Jalen did that this week, and I’m pleased with his performance,” Saban said. “He’s got nothing to prove here. He’s our guy. He’s the guy that I have confidence in. I just had a meeting with him a little bit ago – and clean up some fundamental things and watch him play.
I think Saban is trying to help Jalen by publicly saying things like this, maybe Jalen was looking over his shoulder.
I think Jalen Milroe has nothing to prove to me. He is vastly better than the rest of the QBs and still has looked barely adequate in both his big starts. Is what it is.
I did hear that Nate drives up to Birmingham to get lessons from the guy at CCB because he was so pissed about getting shit on at the Regions.
there are reports that we've had a rough week of practice and Milroe has struggled. This actually has me encouraged. I'm tired of hearing we've fixed it.
Apparently after losses or games where he's pissed he'll go out to the range at North River, at night sometimes, and just pound the shit out of balls until his hands are bloody. Parents friends live right near the range and will sit out on the deck and listen to him dog cuss himself as he does it.
The great thing about this weekend is there is so much good football on I don't have to watch our game.
Objection to Milroe looking “barely adequate.” He’s looked totally inadequate. It’s just the other options suck even more.
I don't know who this guy is, but it's not the guy who ran our program for a decade plus. And you can't convince me that change isn't the reason why things are unraveling.
I mean what in the fvck Nick Saban told ESPN that he played Tyler Buchner and Ty Simpson against South Florida -- and not Jalen Milroe -- because he had promised all 3 of his QBs playing time this season. "That was it. Nothing else," Saban told ESPN.
Welp, for the first time during Saban's tenure I'm worried about the program. What a bullshit interview.
Bryant was in his late 50s in 1969-1970. This ain't that. This is Bryant is 1981-1982. And every day, every mouth in the program that opens and talks - from players to Saban himself - makes it more apparent.
Can the chicken littles please break down what is so concerning about that interview and what they would rather had Saban say?
We played 2 QBs because we "promised to play them" unconditionally??????? That's the least Saban Alabama football program shit I've ever read.
Do you actually believe that? Or is it possible that Saban knew that even with a historically shitty performance we werent losing to USF, which provided a golden opportunity to see if there was any chance the backups provided an upgrade over what we’ve seen from Milroe this season. The latter seems much more likely, and also isnt something he would ever say publicly, hence the answer we got.
They've got software there and computers and all the different kinds of things that guys can go there and actually do a podcast or whatever to create name, image and likeness opportunity. It just creates a way for players to have a facility where they can go do things and take advantage of name, image and likeness opportunities."
