Stumbled across this game trailer today that is quite obviously a Stranger Things rip off. The name gave me a chuckle.
Variety recently reported she got $10M for Enola Holmes 2 as part of that deal so I’d say higher for ST season 5
What age would (or did) you let your child watch Stranger Things? I've seen them all, but my 3rd grader is begging me to watch it - a few classmates have. I'm on the fence, I don't think there is anything too bad other than some gore and monsters, but it's been a while since season 1. Common sense media says 12+, but that seems really old and she's always been ahead of her age in what she watches.
I think it depends on the kid. My 9 yr old doesn't do well with scary stuff, but I had a 9 yr old girl wipe the floor with me (and the rest of the bar) at Stranger Things trivia last year. Try ep 1. If your kid can handle it, you're probably good. At least until S4 because Vecna was terrifying.
I remember being terrified of scary movies when I was a young kid, especially Freddy. I was like in first or second grade when the older neighbors watched the first movie and I watched it with them. Scared the pants off of me until I was watching Nickelodeon and they had a kids talk show type of deal on and they had Robert England on as a guest. So I was able to realize that Freddy wasn’t real and just a this guy in makeup and wearing a costume. From then on I really liked scary movies because I thought all the costumes and effects were really cool.
My son is really good about that sort of thing with the violent action movies like Aliens. He tried to watch the recent It movie and did not make it very far before he said "Nope" lol I think he could handle Stranger Things though
honestly the first couple seasons weren't even that bad from a scary standpoint unlike last season where they dialed up the heat. My 10 year old has been watching them by himself since season 3 release so I guess he was 7/8 at the time and he had no problem. The fact that its science fiction monsters makes it easier for kids to deal with from scare perspective imo as opposed to something that they can see in real life like a man in a mask or a clown.
The scene where Ell is fighting Vecna, Steve is throwing a Molotov cocktail at him and Hopper is taking a Demi’s arm off with a sword is some unbelievable shit
There’s so much nostalgia that pulled us old guys in and made us watch. I’m sure the experience is quite different for a kid in 2023.
I've been in CVS twice when they've been playing Kate Bush. Flashback immediately to Stranger Things. Rewatching Season 4 currently. Just epic.
Whoever played Eddie Munson was the most dynamic actor in that season. He just absolutely murdered that role. And Eddie Munson has to be one of my favorite characters of that season and of the show overall.
I'm interested in the subject of whether Vecna is more powerful than Eleven as of Season 4. On the subject of whether Vecna is more powerful than Eleven I disagree with this statement: "The first time anyone faced off against Vecna, he was still the murderous Henry Creel. It was 1979, and Eleven had just freed Henry from his Soteria chip, and he quickly unleashed his rage. He always wanted to destroy humanity, so he started with all of Dr. Brenner's test subjects. Then, Henry tried to get Eleven to join him in conquering the world. Eleven, however, refused and tried to stop him. Eventually, Eleven was able to banish Henry to the Upside Down (where he became Vecna), but it was very clear that Henry had been inherently stronger than Eleven. It was only because Eleven was able to tap into her anger that she was able to defeat Henry."https://www.cbr.com/vecna-more-powerful-eleven-absorbs-victims-stranger-things-netflix/ She clearly overcame him at that point in the lab as a small child and thus at that point I felt like she was more powerful. Whether or not she harnessed loved or anger is irrelevant. Also there's the fact that Henry was more experienced with his powers and had them longer and Eleven still overcame him. Then in the fight in Episode 9 of Season 4 , Vecna flings the debris at Eleven to distract her and then attacks her while she has her guard down. That just seems like a crafty move more than he's more powerful than her. However the overall impressions that I got was Vecna was more powerful than Eleven at that point. However, I think you have to factor in that Eleven had only recently regained her powers while Vecna had been actively practicing and utilizing his powers and growing stronger by killing and consuming children. So Vecna was in better position and more practiced going into that fight. I don't think it's clear that Vecna was more powerful. I'd like to see a rematch on equal footing.
Just rewatched Season 4 and after reading in here about how Will is gay it was even more obvious in the rewatch in terms of him saying he was different and crying etc. But also I completely forgot that the mind flayer occupied him and left an imprint on him and thus he would likely be sad and depressed even if he wasn't dealing with feeling different and/or worried about being stigmatized. "However, the intriguing thing is that since the Mind Flayer was removed from Will Byers, it left an imprint on him, thus meaning Will is still connected to Vecna, even if the monster doesn't know it." In a sense there is a duality to Will's feelings of depression and sadness. He feels different because he's gay but he also is different because he's permanently scarred/connected to the upside down/mindflayer.
Hard to say since the writers strike is still on going. I'd guess year and a half minimum if they started filming tomorrow.
he's a pretty bad actor so once this show is over I don't think we'll have to worry about seeing any more of him.
Stuck in a hotel room with just Netflix. Doing a season 4 rewatch. Just finished Dear Billy and that is an impressive episode of TV.
