Didn’t see a thread for it but it comes out May 5th. I read the Wool series years ago and the trailer looks pretty good. Apple + puts out some good content as well.
gonna watch tonight on a semi-related note I was explaining the premise of the show to Kendall, told her I had the series on my kindle. Then I realized I loaned them to Constant like over a decade ago and had to call him up to send them back. Can't wait until he gets my invoice for the overdue fines
Read the first book and liked it. Just got busy and never picked up the second. good book so I’m excited for the show
That was one of the better pilots I've watched in awhile. Pelican I think this show might be up your alley.
I have issues with the cleaning scenes, I have a theory but I’m trying my best to avoid book spoilers.
Yeah… Spoiler: Don’t open if you don’t want to know I remember the sheriff dying, a revolt, there’s more than one Silo and that’s pretty much it
Cleaning question: Spoiler my guess is the suit has a VR screen to trick the cleaner and the screens in the Silo are showing what’s really out there? So people think it’s safe so they always clean?
Spoiler totally, What I remember was IT showed them a lush and healthy world. The cleaners, even the ones who said they’d never clean, are tricked into thinking the world has recovered and is thus motivated to clean the sensor to show the rest. They are also given a scant amount of oxygen to boot. The reason for that is the proverbial “they” sure as fuck don’t want a cleaner to discover the other Silos and honest to God, I can’t remember if the air was truly toxic or not. Most of the cleaners died from asphyxiation due to no air. But part of me seems to remember the cleaners may have also been poisoned as a back up measure…which kinda tracks with the birth control conspiracy
Watched both episodes last night. I have zero knowledge of the books but the show is off to a tremendous start. Was nice seeing Andy Dufresne.
just watched the first episode and about to watch the second. Do the books ever answer the questions? If everyone watches the cleaners, why wouldn't one of them mouth “it’s green” or show emotion or even write on the camera?
have read every book, just watched both episodes. fantastic Spoiler the suits are rigged to fuck up. jules realizes this and gets better tape and thats how she makes it to next silo. also she's named after romeous and juliet which Shakespeare didn't write
Spoiler Nanobots if I recall correctly, in the “containment” zone and a shitty rigged up suit. The air outside the silo area was clean.
on a semi-related note. The first book was one of Amazon's early attempts to get into publishing original content. If memory serves they offered up the first book on the Kindle for free and the other 4 books were like a 12.99 bundle or something like that. It was pretty slick at the time.
Yeah the questions you have will be answered. I’m fully in on the way the show is being done so anything you’re wondering about will be answered.
im sure it will be revealed, but I’m assuming the IT group has more going on behind the curtain than a friendly help desk
That episode was great. The last half hour or so reminded me of the Dead Freight episode in Breaking Bad.
I got this because it’s $21 for the 3 https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B088BBLMGS/ref=ya_aw_dod_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I don’t like that it’s all “one” book on kindle though. But it’s $40 for the 3 book separately.
I always read this as top titties from another time and I’m interested in a docuseries about top titties from another time really enjoying Silo so far
No idea, are we supposed to know who attacked the deputy, you could see his face for a second but I didn't recognize it
I dont think so also did Juliette's mother die of whatever illness too or are we to assume that the death of her son caused her to leave/kill herself?
im guessing the dr dad couldn’t fix him, he died, mom goes distraught and he can’t fix her either. Seemed like they really focused on the fixing part of all of those scenes
Just saw a trailer for this watching the Braves on Friday night baseball on Apple TV+. Half way through I was like "this sounds like Wool". Definitely on my list to watch now, I loved reading the series a few years ago. Glad the early reviews are positive.
You know, you just didn’t know the context. the show especially the first two episodes had a lot of time jumping between the past and present. In the first episode you see Sheriff Holston set a vase of flowers in front of a mirror underneath-ish an open vent, he closes the vent and sits down at the desk and starts to write “Double the flowers” on a torn piece of paper They’ve shown you so much in such a short period of screen time
