This show is hilarious. Mockumentary about a jury for a court case. Only one juror thinks everything is real. Everyone else is an actor. James Marsden KILLS it on this. Created by Gene and Lee, the writers of some of the most awkward Office episodes.
Best part is one of the jurors only spoke to the real guy once. He said: “I’m gonna rub one out in the bathroom real quick.” It’s literally the only thing the guy or the audience hears him say. He then gets injured and must be excused and all the jurors talk about how great he was and his whole life history. The one unaware guy doesn’t say anything because the only thing said to him was about jerking off.
Just watched all six available episodes. Talk about a hidden gem. Laughed out loud multiple times every episode. Definitely will be recommending this show. Todd and Noah are my favorites. But James Marsden as a spoiled actor version of himself is excellent in this.
The reveal episode is amazing. It's like they picked the perfect person to stage the show around. It's insane how they pulled everything off and how they corrected any mistakes made by the actors/crew. I also feel like I've gained more respect for Marden's acting ability too.
Agreed. What an awesome ep all around. I love that he was such a genuine good dude and that everyone loved him
The only thing that I didn't like was that they didn't really use Kirk Fox(Sewage Joe from Parks and Rec) for anything memorable. He's been in a decent amount of comedy shows/movies and he was mostly just in the background in this.
They did such a nice job not making him look like a rube and treated him so well referring to him as the hero so often.
I haven’t seen the finale yet but the only thing I didn’t love about this is how dude knows Marsden’s amazing turn as Rex in Sex Drive but doesn’t recognize fucking Sewage Joe from Parks & Rec.
Finished last night. Probably the most I have ever felt genuinely happy because of a TV show. A real life Truman Show sounds kind of gross on the surface but they obviously handled it in the best way imaginable. I could watch a whole season's worth of the behind the scenes stuff too.
They cut so much out. Should have been a bunch more eps because I find the whole thing so fascinating. Just perfectly done. Loved it.
The only thing that doesn't make sense is he applied to be on a show on Craigslist. Why would he think it's a real trial?
Honestly, what percentage of the general public knows how the legal system works? If a company provides you with a bunch of documentation and you are told you can volunteer for jury duty, a bunch of people are gonna believe that. There was an article that mentioned that for every crazy thing that happened, there was an additional 4 hours of mundane testimony that they had to listen to.
The only part that didn’t make sense to me was when they had to explain to Ronald what soaking was. Like any 20 somethings guy wouldn’t have ever heard of it.
The only time I got a little suspicious was on the second day when he brought in a random deep-cut James Marsden DVD.
They explained the DVDs as the production team got approval from the court to allow them to bring entertainment in for the jurors. I could see that seeming normal to people.
They mentioned it in the show I believe. Or maybe it was in one of the interviews. I do not remember but thats how it was explained.
Im on ep 5. This is hilarious, but also confusing. Is this a sitcom or a Nathan Fielder type thing all for Ronald. It’s kind of weird they do confessionals in character when he’s not around. If this were a regular comedy - they’re funny. They are funny. Also not sure how no one breaks when the ridiculous shit happens
he’s always close by and I’m imagining they do them so it does t seem like he’s the only one they pull aside
This show was great. The did a real good job finding Ronald. This show could have gone sideways w a douchebag. A feel good Joe Schmo Show. Still cant believe that was a real tv show
The thing that is fascinating to me is that they could repeat the exact same show - same premise, same characters, same trial, same staged “tests”, - with a different person and different personality type to see how different things go with different people as the main character. They would have to handle it delicately if they get a moron or an asshole to avoid crossing some sort of line where it becomes exploitative, but i think there’s a lot more to explore if they want to.
Yeah, I don’t think I’d want another season of this. It’s perfect the way it is and all the suspense would be gone, now.
Yeah - count me out for another season. I feel like it only worked because Ronald appeared to be a generally decent person.
Watching the reveal. Them practically begging him to order a drink at margaritaville so they could get one
Spoiler I think the part I died the most at was when it was revealed that the supporting witness had been arrested for masturbating in a movie theater and then the defense attorney, amazed, slowly asks…”what was the movie?”
Show is good but not great until the reveal. Even knowing it’s fake at the time, looking at what went into all of it after the fact makes it that much funnier.
