the "Whoa! I burned myself on a rivet" line might make me laugh harder than any in the show. Really anything where Frank and Charlie are displaying their weird connection
The original power bottom scene is maybe the funniest in show history but I love every time they call back to it and the people they’re talking to have no idea why any context is being given.
They cover this on the podcast but the scene plays because it’s a sincere conversation that’s inappropriate in really any moment and they’re totally aloof to that fact.
Yeah they’re perfectly ok with it. If that’s your thing. The fact that a power bottom generates the most power and it making Mac mad that he’s not considered a power bottom and Dennis calls him a twink is the best.
It’s not my place to say whether or not the pre-out Mac gay jokes were offensive but it’s at least my opinion that they work because his issue typically involves vanity, ie he’s not big/tough enough, Carmen is dating a soft body, etc.
mac has some seriously great lines/deliveries as well. watched a comp yesterday. this one always stands out:
Hey bozo, you sold my buddy a bum pear. Hey, you picked it out. Well, let’s not get into a whole thing about who did what. I want my money back. Charlie, give him the pear.
I always love these scenes because they have the utmost confidence they know more than whoever they are being consulted by and they get into sidebars and just ignore the person. It is the same thing every time but is great
A great piece of acting from Glenn is when they buy the timeshare and the guy asks if he’s ever been to Florida and he scoffs and says “Florida? Not physically.”
I always take Rotten Tomatoes ratings with a huge grain of salt...especially the critics ratings, but... BlackBerry has a 97% critics rating. Fool's Paradise (which was written & directed by Charlie which Glenn is also in & comes out on the same day as BlackBerry) unfortunately only has a 33% critics rating. Regardless, I'm might try to take an afternoon off some time next week and go to both.
the look on Dennis' face when he says laser beams are the only way to completely obliterate the follicle on Family Fight
I saw Fool's Paradise and BlackBerry today... Fool's Paradise Spoiler For the uninitiated, this was written and directed by Charlie. It also has many IASIP actors and actresses in it including Dennis, The Waitress, Liam McPoyle, Bill Ponderosa, and more. Even beyond that, this movie's cast is outrageous with more excellent actors including, Jason Sudeikis, Adrien Brody, Kate Beckinsale, John Malkovich, Jason Bateman, Ray Liota, Dean Morris, etc. I mention all of that because that's the exciting and interesting part of the film, unfortunately. I love Charlie and his character in IASIP is one of my favorites of any TV show ever. His other roles like in Horrible Bosses for example are funny too. He seems like a great dude from the podcast. I hate that this movie sucks so bad. The worst part is that the storytelling and "comedic" aspects of this movie are the worst parts and he's writer/director so there's just no hiding it. It's one of the most uninteresting, poorly written, and I hate to say this, but dumb movies I've seen in a long damn time and it hurts to admit that. BlackBerry Spoiler It was a wild contrast to see Fool's Paradise directly before BlackBerry. The latter is such a damn good movie and perfectly cast. Dennis/Glenn was so freaking good it's crazy. Similar to The Social Network, everyone will go into this movie knowing the results and just like that movie, it doesn't matter at all because it's so good. Every scene moves the story forward at the perfect pace. Despite it being more drama than comedy, the comedy that there is, is way funnier than anything Fool's Paradise has to offer. It's just a great movie with no weak points. Highly, highly recommend.
The Gang Spies Like U.S. is soooo amazing I used to eat so much fish. A good fish, a solid fish. Not eating all reptiles, just the good ones. She's constantly gonna back-sass you. You're always going to be the butt of our jokes... Dennis' face when he turns back to tell Charlie and Frank to just hang back and not eat reptiles is so good. And then again in the factory when he tells Dee she's at the very bottom of the chain of command and that she should just tell the manager how "pretty and blonde" she is........amazing apology words
I'm annoyed but I could eat is a line I want to start using. And Dennis' disgusted look when Charlie suggests they should maybe just order a couple apps instead of fish is so good get me the snapper bozo. Do you have the snapper or not? Why are we talking about this so much? Get the god damn snappers! Mac is amazing in this scene at Guigino's I've seen this episode probably 100 times and it always makes me laugh out loud. I think this show and I Think You Should Leave (or like the dark humor in The Sopranos/Wire) are the only shows that can truly pull that off
just saw this recommended for me. so good, some of the best jokes are the cold open title card reveals. "and you claim he was going to *quote* eat your butt, and his sons butt, in the stink, until his stomach was full of...butt."
