in the last 18 months I've seen Bargatze, Mulaney, Segura, Normand, Morril, Tomlinson, Distefano in person and have tickets to see Jeselnik and Stavros in coming months. Not one of them mentioned the words "canceled" or "woke" or "leftist" or complained about how hard people are making comedy even a single fucking time.

I listen to two Normand pods semi-regularly (Tuesdays with Stories, We Might be Drunk) and both say the craziest shit and rarely talk about woke or cancel culture. And Normand says whateverthefuck comes into his head at any given time. He's hilarious and he never whines about that shit like Rogan and all these other fucking losers.

 

It's funny you never hear Jeselnik talk about it despite the entirety of his act.

 

Distefano talks about woke/cancel culture sometimes but usually does a really good job of keeping it light and not sounding bitter like all the 50 year old losers that want to still be able to say a bunch of words they can't say anymore. His 9/11 bit is one of the funniest bits I've ever heard.

 

Good for you man and I believe you but most of those guys at one point or another complain about the things I’m talking about. Not everyone bangs the drum like Rogan or Maher but they just about all complain about it

 

in fact he's gone on record multiple times saying that people crying about being censored or canceled should shut the fuck up and write better, more creative jokes or quit comedy altogether

But this becomes true about basically every questionable subject. Saying you can’t joke about antisemitism because the 100million Americans have proven they’re dumb as fuck and liable to join any cult that comes along has kind of always been the case; we’ve just become more aware.

I’m not advocating for being able to joke about antisemitism in particular, just that good comics have proven any topic can be funny when done properly and saying “too many people are stupid” can start being applied to lots of things.
