Anyone else watch this? I put it up there with Game of Thrones as far as the world, characters, the writing, story, the lore, the MUSIC and all the incredible moments this show offers. I know people are reluctant to get into anime as was I, but this show delivers.
Never been an anime guy but a friend of mine got me on it and I have absolutely loved it. So unique and the animation style just does it for me
Never really watched any anime but I do like me some nerdy GOT type things. Went to pop this in and saw the first season had 50 episodes
I would suggest watching it in Japanese. The voice actors of the characters are 10 times better than the English ones. It devalues the show if you watch it in English.
My son decided he wanted to watch it. Not knowing anything about it I turn it on. First 20 minutes were meh but whatever. Then the guy gets crushed by a boulder and blood gushed everywhere. Right after the giant eats the mom in front of her kids. My son is 6. That puts a wrap on that.
Once the Ape Titan showed up, I was out. Much better animes out there. One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, and my personal favorite, Kajii Ultimate Survivor.
You maybe scratched about 5% of the full story of the show. Pretty remarkable how much foreshadowing takes place throughout it
He has been watching YouTube clips recently and that’s where he got the idea. 4-6 minute clips that were pg.
One of the few animes and mangas I watch/read. Show has been wonderful through current time. Highly rewatchable too.
eight episodes in. this is pretty great; only anime i've watched before this was the short dota one that came out earlier this year for whatever reason, i thought the show was about spaceships and planets or whatever, with titan being a big ship or a planet. ep 1 was deranged for me when i went in with that perspective
damn they kill off everyone in this show. i'm just at the end of the forest fight and half of the characters i knew are now dead.
i'm through two seasons. if i had a dubbed version of the show or if it was in english, i would have been done by now. it's so bingeable but it gets tiring reading subtitles for so many hours in a row i really like the show - the universe is so interesting and i've only scratched the surface - but i'm not sort of over not knowing the details and having the show cut away from important conversations where the characters know but the viewer doesn't. i really just want to better understand the whole mystery of the land and the walls and the titans so i can better understand the conflicts each characters are facing, particularly the "bad" ones. excited to start season 3 and get to the conclusion though.
There’s some fucking weird animes out there. I just started one called Assassination Classroom about a smiley face octopus monster who blew up 80% of the moon and then the government made a deal with him to become the teacher for a class of misfits. These students have one year to figure out how to kill him before he blows up the Earth as well.
finished s3 earlier this week i also had trouble getting through it in a way, but then i'd become addicted to the story once it was on. it was weird. Spoiler i liked the explanation of the world but i wish it came earlier in the show. i honestly can't believe how many people have died... there are so few characters to care about now! i think it makes me like the show less yet also it gives stakes to the fighting and the decisions which makes me like it more. i'n a couple of episodes into s4 and it seems really great so far
The first several episodes of season 3 can get bogged down in the political side of things a little bit. But after that it’s on and crackin
wait, is this show not over? i got to 4.16, which i expected to be the finale. and it's definitely not the finale.
The second half of season 4 is supposed to come out beginning of next year. But be careful because the Manga finished earlier this year so the ending is out there. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos on AoT and recommended videos have now popped up on my homepage that I wish I didn’t look at.
Yes, I was psyched that it was building towards an ending, and when I got to 16, I was like wtf. I do like how it is all coming together though.
Just finished season 2. Finally think I understand what the overarching theme is of the show. It’s amazing they were able to go that far and not explicitly tell you what the fuck is going on and still have such an incredibly compelling show.
S2 made you question everything about the titans, humans, coordinates etc. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. S3 part 2 is the wonderful with the payoff, probably my favorite S4 has been great S1 was wonderful the more you know and look back Wish S3 part 1 stayed more true to the manga
I guess with a 9 year old the dub would be easier for your kid. But I strongly recommend the sub. Some of the Japanese voice actors are legends and have some dialogue and phrases that are what make the show.
There are 139 manga chapters but I don't think anyone knows how many episodes the second part of season 4 will be.
They should keep talking and not Spoiler kill the fucking changing titans when they have a chance, fuck this is frustrating. How many times are you going to let them get away at the last second
Can’t believe I’ve missed this thread considering I’m a huge anime/manga fan. Been really interesting reading everyone’s thoughts as they make it through the series. I personally think the entire anime is incredible. The story might deal with moral ambiguity better than any story I’ve read. The second half of season three and the first half of season four are something else though. The rest of season four will just as good too. I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts will be on the finale. The series is about as universally loved as you can get but the final chapter of the manga was quite divisive.
