Really curious what other countries have mass murders like ours? Outside of religious suicide bombs. How may schools get shot up in Europe? Asia?

There was a school shooting in Norway several years ago but that's the only one I can remember off the top of my head. We're way out in the lead when it comes to this shit.
I believe I saw a stat today that said we’ve had 19 school shootings in 2018, the rest of the world had had less than that in the last 20 years

Saw a pic that said there have been 18 school shootings in the US alone this year and 18 school shootings everywhere else in the last like 25 years
Guys remember we were at one point no longer allowed to wear our shoes through airport security because some guy tried to hide a bomb in his, but we absolutely cannot enact gun control legislation to curb these shootings

I remember I went to Cabelas a few weeks after the Newtown shooting to buy some christmas gifts for my brothers. It was crazy busy at the gun counter and when I went to go checkout I asked the clerk "are you guys having like a gun sale or something?" and he responded "No there was just that shooting and we have been crazy busy ever since". I couldn't even fathom that mindset while there were still pictures of the dead kid on the TV.
I said this after one of the other school shootings...i'm losing track at this point...but gun control aside, is it really that difficult to have a police officer stationed at every school, primarily at the entrance? I know 7am-3pm is a high crime time span so police are soooo busy. That isn't an attack on police, but a comical misuse of resources.

Wow. I had heard he targeted a building separate from the main school, unless that was reported wrong early on into this. I guess that is why. Still, on a grand scale I don't understand why they aren't stationed at every single school. It blows my mind every time I drop off or pick up my son.
A lot of schools can't afford a resource officer with funding slashed on every level and a lot of departments are incredibly budget strapped. Where is that money coming from?
The school shouldn't be on the hook for it. A police officer stationed at every school should qualify as just basic public service. And yes, school funding as a whole is horrific.
This, our district can’t afford to hire a person at that position, our city can’t afford to hire someone for that position, and our police would be under staffed in our town from 7:30 to 3:15 if they took an officer off the street.

Why would you assume that those who support gun rights and support gun legislation are unable to grasp the nuance between a gun ban and a gun type ban?

Or, when you ban assault rifles and some criminal has one and starts shooting up a school, the cops dont have them. Where does it stop though? Ban assault rifles and when there is a school shooting with a pistol, ban them?
Are there any other issues besides guns where you feel one legislative step not completely fixing the problem (to the extent you believe this is actually a problem) is reason enough not to pursue a step? Surely you don't believe the wall will stop 100% of illegal entries.

Go read the story and events of Sandy Hook. If you don’t cry or want change then I don’t know how I can ever convince you.
Please help me understand this. Whether I agree or not I understand legitimate reasons to own certain guns. What legitimate reason could you have for owning a suppressor? What uses are there that make it necessary? Same for an assault rifle. If we are talking hunting and you view hunting as a sport, isn’t an assault rifle basically cheating? To me, the biggest reason nothing has happened is the organization of the NRA and it’s supporters and lack of organization on the other side. Who is anti-gun? I would say democrats but I can’t point to one organization. Who owns that issue and works to get reform? Until the other side mobilizes and organizes successfully to counteract the NRA, the NRA will win even if they are on the wrong side of the issue.
I just can’t imagine the stupidity of seeing, hey we’re the only country in the world where this happens regularly, but nothing we can really do about it. Only chance at stopping it is having more guns and people with guns and making it easier to get/carry them. I’m a gun owner. I have no idea if stuff like longer waiting periods, mandatory background checks, banning certain types, etc. will do anything to stop this. But, why on earth is it not worth a try? Isn’t anything worth trying when month after month we keep having piles of massacred kids? One reason, as a former GOPer now nonvoter, that I hate the Republican Party.
