I choose not to quote it. Lets use the car example. If I am licensed and trained, I can own a F1 car and drive it in a careful designed and protected environment. Its not street legal, and could kill a shit load of people in the right conditions. I don't care why someone would want to own one, but they have that ability. Hell there isn't even a right to guarantee it. Same with types of firearms. In the right conditions it should be fine in my eyes. Who am I to tell them they can't get their rocks off in the desert or at a range which is designed to facilitate that. However, the second they cross that line into being negligent with that right they are open to prosecution and criminal penalties. My perspective is you don't punish the good members of a society for the actions of the irresponsible. You create legislation which continues to allow law abiding and responsible people to enjoy what they want while protecting society. Again, its my opinion. Please explain how fully automatic weapons are more powerful? They exist today. They are used by individuals who own a fully auto permit and license. One thing to note, in most tactical situations, going full auto is going to reduce the damage you can create and is counter intuitive to harming others. Its why most in teh military avoid full auto unless using it for suppressing a force. I am not advocating a more powerful weapon. I am advocating that responsible members of society should not have their rights eliminated from ignorance. Let me clarify in case you misunderstood. I am not in favor of making fully automatic weapons easier to get, more accessible, cheaper, or to increase production in any way or shape. It should also be a felony to own one without a permit and licensing. I don't have an issue being questioned. Not at all. With regard to suppressors, I am not aware of a suppressor being used in a mass casualty. I heard they suspected it in the Vegas incident, but never saw it was confirmed. Legality does not mean without restriction. For me it means if you demonstrate the ability to use it responsibly with strict training and inspection, it can be done, at a significant cost.
Why can't the reporters respond by saying "You all have said that after ever shooting and still nothing has been done". Put these fuckers on blast and hammer them when they respond like that.
You "choose" to not quote it bc you can't. How many people have F1 cars killed today? I realize they COULD, but how many HAVE they? An AR 15 killed 17 people today. Comparing it a car is fucking insane. Did you really just ask how a fully auto weapon is more powerful? Are you intentionally being ignorant here or what? Full auto = more bullets = more deaths in a short period of time. This isn't rocket science. You made a ridiculous example, so I'll do the same. If I get licensed and trained to own a nuclear weapon, I should be able to own one, right? I'm a responsible member of society. I should definitely be allowed to keep a nuke in my closet just in case!
Possessing a nuclear-tipped ICBM has proven to be a pretty effective way to prevent the US military from invading your territory.
I'm responsible. Give me nukes, weapons, and all your wives, sisters and daughters to fuck whenever I want. Because I'm a good person I swear.
Agreed on the how many people have died from F1 cars, but the question people who think like me is where does it stop? If the answer is "can it kill a large group of people" then the list could be more than just guns. I am willing and able to take the L as everyone recommends. I was simply trying to have a productive conversation around this. I want to make it more difficult for people to get guns. Plain and simple. I am fine with waiting periods, mental health checks, etc. With regard to your ridiculous example, I see it as a great example. Should it be illegal to create a nuclear device? Maybe not a nuclear bomb, but this kid did it. Should he be sent to jail? Should this be illegal because a terrorist could manage to put this together and create a dirty bomb? https://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/07/150726-nuclear-reactor-fusion-science-kid-ngbooktalk/ I conceed your point and think its a stretch to compare both the car/gun/nuke. But I don't think continuing the conversation with those who oppose us is a bad thing.
There is no one in washington blamless in this shit. One side wont do a single fucking thing about it and the other side doesnt push or try hard enough. You can dig your feet in over the dreamer stuff, its past time to dig your feet in over this. There is no reason for everyone on one side or the other to not stand up and say enough of this shit its got to stop and we arent going to do a single thing else until something with this gets worked out. Obviously it cant make anything worse. Its time for people to step up and quit playing the spiteful teenager simply because ‘i dont like the little letter by your name’. But nothing will happen. A couple of days will go by and the shock wears off, one side will continue to do nothing at all and the other side will feign interest with the ‘well we want to do something but, the otherside...’ act and then pick right back up where they left off pre tragedy. And we’ll all be right back here saying the same shit in a few weeks or sadly days. Its a never ending cycle. Some of the players change every few years but the problem never gets any better.
I just cannot imagine any reason anyone would want an AR-15 besides to pull off something like this. Maybe it's just because I'm not a "gun guy" but I've just never seen the point in something like that outside of fighting for your country in combat.
The question isn't "Can it kill a large group of people?" The question is "Is it being used regularly to kill large groups of people?" The list of things being used regularly to kill large groups of people begins and ends with assault rifles. I'm all for continuing the conversation. Maybe one day your side will see the evil of your ways and start to put kids above playing GI Joe.
That was gays, this is kids. Sad, but it'll probably be viewed differently. Maybe you're right though.
Man, my heart aches today for these kids. However it aches even more thinking about the kids that are going to die tomorrow and the next day and the next. All because the NRA is preventing us from having a reasonable and logical discussion about guns. FUCK THE NRA
This is no bullshit but for some of these people in the south it goes back to pre 1865 when blacks outnumbered whites by huge margins and whites always lived in fear that shit would bite them in the ass. Gotta stay armed in case the bloodthirsty black person comes after me. That is as much a reason behind southerners wanting guns as some notion of having an armed standoff with the government
I had a guy tell he needs his AR for when the tyrannical government comes, he can fight. I told him i was going to buy a flamethrower so I can be ready for the dragons.
This was posted but needs to be posted again. Really puts the assault rifles in perspective. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/las-vegas-autopsies_us_5a8233cde4b01467fcf08af6
Anti depressants too. The real answer is to fix the culture. I doubt that happens though. Too much money in it nowdays.
The common denominator in most of these mass shootings are not conservatives but democrats. The psychopathic shooter is a registered Democrat and was seen wearing an ANTIFA communist shirt. He also followed Syrian & Iraqi resistance fighter groups on Facebook. Facts the media won’t tell you. But somehow this is all Trump’s fault? Gfys libtard.
I know the both sides stuff really angers some people but as someone who truely doesnt have a side or even want one, thats just what i see and how i feel. Im not into any of the political stuff and dont care to be. These type of tragedies are really the only thing that drag me into these kinds of discussions. Id be fine if they went house to house tomorrow and rounded up every gun in America. In fact I welcome it. Thats extreme and would never happen but im for anything that helps this shit. Theres always talk immediately after these tragedies that things will be done but we never see anything done from either side. What im saying is, if its actually important to you and you really want to do something about it but you cant get the other side to even talk then dig in on it and refuse to do anything until they join the discussion.
Very fair point. So serious question. What’s your solution? If you say make an AR 15 illegal then that sounds like banning all AR15s to those who think like I do.
Nope that was a legit post but not by me but from a conservative cane poster. It was a legit post just forgot to quote it
Yes, make all AR15's illegal. The issue is middle ground to you is "I can own any gun I want as long as I pass some type of test/certification for it." To me, middle ground is "You can have these handguns and shotguns, but the military style weapons are out." You get to bear arms, just not the ones designed for nothing more than killing large amounts of humans quickly. I've yet to see one good reason for someone to own an assault rifle. I clearly stated where I would draw the line earlier.
That wad good and true. I just about cant take this shit anymore. Kids. Again. Innocent people. Again. Again. Again. The fuck is wrong with people seeing this all and not planning on votin them nra supporting motherfuckers out? The elementary school was supposed to be the big "alarm call" and do something. We aint about shit. Everything is just turning to more shit and we got pos enabling, not caring, going lets talk any other time. We are damn sick as a society and it is so sad. We watch our own die our own young and no matter the pain and anger now we look back and see this is just "another one again."
