thats what I was implying. In the mean time I'm staying awake and having a booze filled night until 3 am watching things unfold.
holy fuck, took everything but the basement. I know its silly to guesstimate in the dark like that, but those trees look like EF3-EF4 damage
That looks like EF4 damage imo. Clean sweep off the foundation. Be interesting to see how these homes were constructed since that is pretty much the driving factor for the enhanced Fujita scale.
So some of those cars in the pictures of the Perryville damage weren't from the highway at all but were thrown ftom a junk yard.
Yes, hello. Our local weather man here in Chatt keep saying the worst part of today will just be strong wind gusts with a very low risk of any tornadoes. People smarter than me, please confirm.
Based on the SPC outlook from today he's right. It looks like they're saying the setup currently doesn't look great for tornadoes, although you're right in the thick of it on the wind map and also a slight potential for hail. Granted, I'm nowhere near as informed as some others here (lomcevak cutig ) so could come in and say I'm dumb and you'd want to trust them over me Tornado Wind Hail Also this from the summary "It seems likely the greatest concentration of severe gusts and swaths of wind damage will align from near the I-65 corridor in TN/KY to the spine of the Appalachians by late this morning (16z)---resulting in higher wind probabilities and a moderate risk."
Here are some photos. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/...n_fa4708a1-b898-5e56-9cd0-5137a1f9bbca.html#4
Looks like an EF3 for the tornado just SW of Chicago. At least an EF 3 for the perryville tornado below
This guy has a live recap of last night. He usually does a live stream every night, can always watch later. Enjoyable stuff. He's a former air Force met and has written a lot of forecasting books
Just got new goes-16 (formerly goes-r) data today at work. So nice. College of dupage (cod) will have it up soon too

Like the plane that crashed into an Aggie graveyard - they're not sure what the final death toll will be, but they've found 1,500 bodies so far.
figured this warm front pushing through north texas would have caused something here but looks like it's getting things brewing more NE
Gonna be a dud imo Hoping for some fun shit though. Kids have track meets that I would love to see get rained out so I can follow this
Fun day today, possibly. Southern MN looks interesting - much closer to the low = very high low-level shear. Starting to get some surface-based instability to build into that region as well. Looks like we'll have a swath of tornado watches from the Twin Cities south into AR
GOES-16 is badass. I believe today is the first day of Year 2 for VORTEX SE. Follow #VORTEXSE to follow the team.
